Known Issues
Known issues in World of Warcraft: Forever as of Oct 31, 2026: Blizzard's two name reservation posts, the Oceanic ruleset order bug and the over-strict name check, and what Blizzard's beta known issues list still showed unfixed when the beta closed.
The live known issue for World of Warcraft: Forever on Oct 31, 2026 is an Oceanic one: on Australian servers, create any Roleplay or Roleplay-PvP character before a Normal or PvP one, or those two rulesets stop being available to you. Blizzard's Kaivax posted that on Oct 27, saying a fix was urgent; we found no follow-up by Oct 31. Josh Greenfield admitted "some hiccups on Tuesday on name reservation day" on the Oct 29 podcast, and said the period helps Blizzard see what launch day will look like. Launch itself is Nov 4, 2026; see Launch Time.
Quick facts
| Oceanic ruleset bug | Create Roleplay or Roleplay-PvP characters first (Blizzard, Oct 27) |
| Over-strict names | Some names wrongly refused, such as any containing "con" (Blizzard, Oct 27) |
| Beta list | Last updated Oct 8, 2026; a beta list, not a launch one |
| Launch known issues post | None from Blizzard as of Oct 31, 2026 |
Name reservation
Australian servers. Blizzard says the bug should affect only Oceanic players connecting to Australian servers. If you create a Normal or PvP character first, "the Roleplay and Roleplay-PvP rulesets will no longer be available for subsequent characters".
Refused names. Forever checks names against a list of restricted, non-profane names, such as major lore characters. A bug made it too strict, for example refusing names containing "c-o-n". Blizzard said the fix would arrive with the next realm restarts in each region, after which you can try a refused name again. See Rulesets for how two-part names work.
Early reservation runs from Oct 27 to Nov 3, 2026, for players with an upgrade; see Upgrades and Editions.
What the beta's list still showed
Blizzard's beta known issues post and the development notes listed these with no fix announced by the last notes of Oct 26, 2026. Some may have been fixed quietly, and none is confirmed for the launch build:
- Combat. Enemies "can Parry and Block from behind" if you stand close to them (Oct 1). The Glancing Blow values and their display on the character sheet were marked work in progress (Sep 18).
- Interface. Switching to or from Gamepad UI resets your edit mode layout (Oct 1). Some Professions window icons looked broken (Oct 8). Pet stats on the character sheet were incomplete (Sep 18).
- Cooldown Manager. Healthstones, pet cooldowns and item enhancements could not be tracked (Sep 24), and consumables were due later.
- Skyborne visuals. Textures for cat form, Zephras Isle creatures and some mounts and pets were due in a future build (Oct 8). Standard-definition Skyborne are due in early 2027.
- Install size. "Larger than intended" (Oct 1), with a reduction promised. See System Requirements.
- Ray-traced shadows. Removed on Oct 1, to return "after the functionality is fixed". See Graphics and Visuals.
- Hats. Anduin Wrynn and other children "unintentionally have hats"; Blizzard joked that they "keep giggling and running away" (Oct 1).
Issues Blizzard did report fixed include Warrior Dual Wield Specialization, Retribution Aura and the Taillasher Eggs in Durotar.
What is not known yet
As of Oct 31, 2026: launch-day bugs, queue times, and whether the Oceanic fix has landed. Blizzard's launch notes will replace this list.
Frequently asked questions
Why can't I pick a Roleplay ruleset in WoW Forever? If you play on Australian servers and already made a Normal or PvP character, a bug Blizzard reported on Oct 27, 2026 hides those rulesets. Create Roleplay characters first.
Why does WoW Forever say my name is restricted? A bug refused too many names, including those containing "con". Blizzard said to try again after the next realm restart in your region.
Is there a launch known issues list? Not as of Oct 31, 2026. Blizzard's list covers the beta, last updated Oct 8.
