1:40:45 Affliction Warlock in World of Warcraft: Forever gets Wrack at 31 points, a drain-style Shadow spell that raises your other Shadow damage over time on the target by 10% for 6 seconds, meant as the spell you cast between damage-over-time spells. Countdown read it on Sep 13, 2026 under the demo's name, Drain Hope, and said "I'm here for Drain Hope as the affliction filler". Blizzard's article of Oct 7 calls it Wrack. How it plays

Blizzard's own description is the rotation: Wrack is "their primary spell when not re-casting damage-over- time spells or instant Shadow Bolts from Nightfall" (Blizzard). Nightfall now triggers from Wrack too, so the filler feeds the instant cast. Banes, a new baseline type, let one Warlock keep Bane of Agony or Doom beside a curse.

1:39:47 Critical strikes are a change Countdown noticed: "it very much so looks like Dots will be able to crit". Pandemic is what doubles that bonus. He also read Shadow Mastery as nerfed, which Blizzard undid on Oct 15 by doubling it, and his figures for Soul Siphon come from a demo build that Blizzard's article later replaced.

1:00:24 Fear's range is the open question. Sodapoppin relayed a question from Warlock players on Oct 1: the old range talent was reworded to damaging spells, leaving Fear at 20 yards. "That was an oversight," a designer answered, weighing a baseline 30 yards against a new talent. Grim Reach, added two weeks later, covers "your Affliction spells". Blizzard has not said in so many words that Fear counts.

• Sep 24, 2026: Life Tap's tooltip corrected to scale with Spirit (Blizzard).
• Oct 1: Drain Soul interrupted when another cast begins, Hellfire can crit, Soul Harvest renamed and fixed (Blizzard).
• Oct 8: Shadow Bolt ranks 1 to 5 smoothed (Blizzard).
• Oct 15: Malediction replaced with Grim Reach, Shadow Mastery raised (Blizzard).
• Oct 26: racials only; Orcs regain Command, 5% more Warlock pet damage (Blizzard).

Blizzard's role for it

Blizzard says Affliction now has "full viability from dealing critical strikes" and that Warlocks "now do damage to compete with any other spellcaster" (Blizzard). See Best DPS.

• RankedBoost grades it A for damage, graded Oct 3 (RankedBoost).
• NoobToBoss places it in its third damage tier and names it the Warlock's leveling pick, Oct 19, at a level 30 cap (NoobToBoss).
• Kargoz prefers a Demonology hybrid for PvP, with Affliction behind it, Oct 13 (Kargoz on Mobalytics).
• Icy Veins says Affliction "has received one of the largest upgrades", Oct 15 (Icy Veins).

What is not known yet

• Affliction's 11 and 21-point talents: Blizzard's article does not number them.
• Whether Fear reaches 30 yards with Grim Reach, as of Oct 31, 2026.
• Drain Soul's Soul Shard odds. Blizzard says only that the chance rises each tick until guaranteed.
