Best PvP Class
The best PvP class in World of Warcraft: Forever is a prediction, not a result: Kargoz's guide of Oct 13, 2026 backs Frost Mage, Warlock and Hunter, Blizzard says it does not balance for 1v1, Icy Veins has not ranked anyone, and no level 60 battleground has been played.
No one can yet say which class is best at PvP in World of Warcraft: Forever, because no level 60 battleground has been played as of Oct 31, 2026, and Blizzard says it does not aim for 1v1 balance: "you should feel like you could take any Warlock build into a battleground", its designers said on Oct 1. The most detailed attributed prediction is Kargoz's PvP guide of Oct 13, which calls Frost Mage "one of my strongest candidates for an S-tier" spec, and Warlock and Hunter contenders for the top. It has no Shaman section. Icy Veins' PvP lists of Oct 26 leave every spec "TBD".
Quick facts
| Blizzard's stance | No balancing around 1v1; each class keeps strengths and weaknesses |
| Kargoz's top candidates, Oct 13, 2026 | Frost Mage, Warlock (Soul Link hybrid), Marksmanship and Survival Hunter |
| Kargoz's healers | Holy Priest, Holy Paladin, Restoration Druid |
| Icy Veins, Oct 26, 2026 | Every damage and healer spec "TBD" |
| No Resilience | A major factor, says Kargoz; critical strikes in PvP lost their reduced effect on Oct 8 (Blizzard) |
| Beta PvP tournament | Won by a Warlock, by the fifth podcast's word |
What Blizzard says
Balancing the game for 1v1 leads to "total homogenization", a designer said on Oct 1, fixing every weakness until classes are alike. So the question Blizzard asks is whether a build is effective in a battleground, not whether it is the best.
Hunters keep their dead zone for the same reason: "you get in their face where they can't do those shots".
Mages who are not Frost lack Ice Block. Asked if it should be baseline: "No, too strong."
Blizzard's notes also shape PvP directly. Critical strikes in PvP lost their reduced efficacy on Oct 8, Blizzard's deep dive cut Frost's area slows, and its pass of Oct 26 changed several racials (Races and Racials). Honor and marks are on PvP Progression.
Kargoz's predictions
Kargoz, a long-time Classic PvP creator, writes that these are "predictions based on the current Forever Beta", from Oct 13, 2026, before the build of Oct 15 (Kargoz on Mobalytics).
| Class | Kargoz's pick | Spec order | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mage | Frost | Frost, Fire, Arcane | "One of my strongest candidates for an S-tier" |
| Warlock | Soul Link hybrid | Demonology hybrid, then Affliction or Destruction | "A serious contender for the top" |
| Hunter | Marksmanship and Survival hybrid | Hybrid, then Beast Mastery | "One of my top candidates" |
| Warrior | Arms | Arms, Protection, Fury | "One of the premier offensive specializations" |
| Rogue | Subtlety | Subtlety, Assassination, Combat | Assassination "the wildcard" |
| Priest | Holy and Discipline hybrid | Holy, Discipline, Shadow | "Holy Priest is being underestimated" |
| Paladin | Holy | Holy, Retribution, Protection | "The dominant Paladin PvP specialization" |
| Druid | Restoration hybrid | Restoration, Feral, Balance | "The premier objective-oriented specialization" |
| Shaman | None | None | Not covered in the guide |
Two of these have changed since. Blizzard cut Ice Lance's Frozen bonus to 200% from 300% on Oct 15, and that build also gave Shadow Priests new tools.
What others say
Sodapoppin, on Sep 24, said "Warlock's got a pretty big nerf in PvP" from Fear's shorter range, and "Shadow Priest is going to be disgusting", adding it remains to be seen. Blizzard called the Fear change "an oversight" on Oct 1 and later widened Affliction's range (Warlock).
On the fifth podcast, Oct 22, a host congratulated the winner of the beta's PvP tournament, "Warlock guy". One tournament is not a ranking.
Icy Veins lists its damage and healer specs with criteria but ranks none (damage, healers).
What is not known yet
- Any measured level 60 PvP result, as of Oct 31, 2026.
- Tier sets, which Blizzard said in October it would review, and final numbers: no launch patch notes yet.
