Druid
The Druid in World of Warcraft: Forever: playable by Tauren, Night Elves and both Skyborne sides, potions and racials in every form, Shifting Power in place of power shifting, Primal Bite for bears, Moonkin and Leader of the Pack raid wide, Wild Growth at 31 points, and the gaps Blizzard keeps.
The Druid in World of Warcraft: Forever can fill every role, tank, healer, melee and spell damage, and is playable by Tauren and Windshaper Skyborne on the Horde and Night Elves and High Order Skyborne on the Alliance. Forms now work with nearly every potion, consumable, weapon effect and racial, but power shifting is gone: on the second WoW: Forever Podcast, on Oct 1, 2026, Blizzard's designers called it "very unintuitive" emergent play that filled every global cooldown, and replaced it with a talent, Shifting Power. Blizzard's price for that flexibility is plain: Druids "cannot snare targets, cannot Silence or Interrupt, and have weaker and less reliable crowd control" (Blizzard). Its deep dive of Sep 30, 2026 was the first of the series, and the beta's notes kept changing the class through Oct 15; Forever launches on Nov 4, 2026.

Who can be a Druid
Blizzard's table of Sep 22, 2026 lists Tauren and Skyborne for the Horde and Night Elf and Skyborne for the Alliance. Both Skyborne sides may be Druids, with forms made for the race, and a Skyborne needs the Heroic Pack or higher; see Skyborne and Upgrades and Editions. Racials now work in form, "including Shadowmeld, War Stomp, and Walk on Air". On Oct 7 Blizzard reworked the HD Skyborne forms and said standard-definition versions arrive in early 2027. See Races and Racials.
Changes for every Druid
From the deep dive of Sep 30, 2026, updated by the development notes.
| Level | Change |
|---|---|
| Any | All potions and almost all similar consumables work in form without leaving it; Rage potions and Thistle Tea are usable. Most Engineering bombs are not, apart from some new SAF-T and EZ-Thro recipes |
| Any | Weapon enchants and procs work in form, including weightstones, Crusader and Windfury Totem. Form auto attacks use your weapon's damage per second, at a speed of 1.0 or 2.5 seconds by form |
| Any | Most doors and objects open without leaving form. Racials and Barkskin work in form |
| Any | All forms are immune to Disarm (Oct 1). A Druid disarmed before shifting still deals reduced damage |
| Any | Tiger's Fury is removed (Oct 1) |
| Any | Hurricane has no cooldown. Entangling Roots works indoors. Faerie Fire works in Bear and Cat Form, free, on a 6-second cooldown |
| Any | Claw and Shred deal much more. Rake and Swipe scale better with attack power. Demoralizing Roar is identical to Demoralizing Shout at level 60. Growl's cooldown matches Taunt |
| Any | Frenzied Regeneration heals up to 100% of maximum health, given enough Rage |
| Any | Regrowth costs far less. Rejuvenation, Tranquility and Wild Growth can critically strike (Sep 24) |
| 10 | Nature's Grasp is baseline, usable in form and indoors |
| 12 | Revive, an out-of-combat resurrection |
| 20 | Omen of Clarity is baseline; Wrath never uses up its Clearcasting. Shred rank 1 moved to 20 from 22 (Oct 15) |
| 42 | Lacerate, a stacking Bleed, baseline, with high threat |
Wrath has its own history. Blizzard tried making it free, like a wand, and found that "you never ran out of mana ever", so it gave Wrath a small mana cost but left its damage too low, especially before Starfire. The beta's Sep 24 notes raised its base damage by about 50%. On Oct 8 its early ranks were smoothed so each new rank is an upgrade.
That buff has a cost. The designer estimated it adds about 2% to a Druid's damage at level 60 and said every class has a damage budget, so "we'll probably take Druid down a notch somewhere". Blizzard has not said where as of Oct 31, 2026.
Balance
Spell damage from range. Moonkin Form lets every non-healing spell be cast and doubles Omen of Clarity's chance.
- 16 points, Insect Swarm: moved here from Restoration. Nature damage over 12 seconds and a lower hit chance for the target. Since Oct 15, several copies no longer stack that penalty.
- 11 points, Nature's Splendor: longer Moonfire, Rejuvenation, Regrowth and Insect Swarm.
- Eclipse: a row 5 talent. Wrath shortens the cast of your next two Starfires, up to four charges.
- Overgrowth: Entangling Roots on up to three targets.
- Nature's Grace: 3 seconds of spell haste and a shorter global cooldown.
- Moonkin Aura: raid wide and spell critical strike only, since Oct 15, reversing the deep dive's wording that covered all attacks.
- Genesis: more periodic damage and healing. Nature's Majesty: critical strike chance with spells and melee. Moonglow now discounts only damage spells.
- Baseline or moved: Nature's Grasp, Improved Thorns and Omen of Clarity are baseline; Natural Weapons merged into Naturalist; Natural Shapeshifter moved to Restoration.
Thorns moved twice in the beta: it scaled with spell power from Sep 24, and on Oct 8 returned to its original base damage with a 6% ratio.
Countdown, reviewing the demo's trees on Sep 13, found Eclipse "not the version" it expected, since it works in one direction only.
Feral Combat
Tank and melee damage from one tree, with two 16-point talents side by side: Shifting Power for cats and Primal Bite for bears. Feral Druid has every talent.
Shifting Power (16 points) spends mana equal to Cat Form's cost for 40 Energy in Cat Form, on a 16-second cooldown. Improved Shifting Power (row 5) brings it to 8. Blizzard said it is 40, not 60, because Energy regenerates at the same time, and that effects reducing shapeshift cost also reduce it. Blizzard's notes add that it cannot be used at full Energy. It makes Intellect, Innervate and mana potions matter to a cat, the designer said.
Bonus healing is the limit. Asked whether Feral would get it like other melee hybrids, the designers said they had been "conspicuously not giving" hybrids strong healing, because "we want you to need other players". On Oct 8, Predatory Instincts became Natural Instinct, adding spell healing of 12 or 25% of Intellect, so a small amount did arrive.
- Primal Bite (16 points, bears): 20 Rage for 100% weapon damage plus a bonus and very high threat, roughly doubled on Oct 1. Blizzard chose it over Mangle, and renamed the talent on Sep 24 since its debuff was gone.
- 31 points, Berserk: 15 seconds on a 3-minute cooldown in any Bear or Cat Form. Clears and blocks Fear, removes Primal Bite's cooldown and makes it strike up to three targets, and adds 100% critical strike chance to Cat Form Combo abilities.
- 21 points, Leader of the Pack: raid wide and melee and ranged critical strike only since Oct 15.
- 11 points, Feral Charge: gains a Cat Form version on a 30-second cooldown that does not interrupt or immobilize.
- Thick Hide: armor from Defense skill on gear, in Bear, Cat, Dire Bear or Moonkin Form, so Druid tanks want Defense like other tanks.
- Natural Reaction: more dodge and a chance of 5 Rage on a dodge. Predatory Strikes: up to 20% more critical strike damage. Rend and Tear: more melee damage to bleeding targets.
- Feral Instinct: no longer adds threat in Bear Form; it raises Swipe's damage.
- Furor (in Restoration): Energy keeps regenerating out of Cat Form. Since Oct 15 Bear Form keeps it instead of erasing it, though Bear Form still stops regeneration. Blizzard's aim was to stop bear-weaving.
Wolfshead Helm gives 5 Energy when Shifting Power is used since Oct 8, keeping its Rage bonus. King of the Jungle is gone, and Feral Aggression and Feral Faerie Fire are baseline.
Bears were short of Rage in the first weeks. A designer said he felt it himself tanking in dungeons. The notes of Oct 8 fixed the Rage bugs and rebalanced Rage from taking damage, Bear and Dire Bear threat rose to 50% from 30%, and critical strikes give 100% more Rage. Faerie Fire and Demoralizing Roar generate threat too.
Riyani, on Sep 14, called the Druid the simplest tank in items, builds and play. Mangle has since become Primal Bite.
Restoration
Healing over time, on the move.
- 31 points, Wild Growth: on any party or raid member, heals that player's whole party, pets included, every second for 7 seconds, starting strong and falling. 6-second cooldown and a high mana cost.
- 16 points, Swiftmend: up from the last row, and it no longer uses up the Rejuvenation or Regrowth it reads.
- 11 points, Gift of the Earthmother: 0.5 seconds off the global cooldown of Rejuvenation, Swiftmend and Wild Growth.
- Living Spirit: more Spirit. Reflection: much more mana regeneration while casting. Improved Tranquility: up to 60% off Tranquility's cooldown.
- Naturalist: formerly Improved Healing Touch, and it also adds damage. Subtlety: 3 points, up to 30% less threat from Arcane and Nature spells.
Blizzard's summary: Druids "can be powerful healers" with a "more limited" kit than Priests, relying on heals over time that "require more planning". On Oct 15 Blizzard fixed a bug that stopped other Druids applying Rejuvenation to the same target.
Group play
On Oct 1 players told Blizzard their raid plans needed several Feral and Balance Druids for their critical strike auras, and the designers named Leader of the Pack and Moonkin Aura as candidates to go raid wide. The build of Oct 15 did exactly that, so a raid needs only one of each.
Blizzard's deep dive closes on the trade: a Druid "can perform any role" but has "non-damage utility" gaps, and needs others "to provide the complete toolkit needed for raids and dungeons". It keeps Rebirth and Innervate from the class's past, Icy Veins notes. Tanks are compared on Best Tank, healers on Best Healer.
Leveling
A Druid counts as a hybrid: Blizzard puts its damage trees at about 5% below the pure damage classes.
Blizzard's leveling facts are the level table above, Wrath's raise for levels before Starfire, and Rage rebalanced for questing on Oct 8, to 20% to 40% armor by level rather than a tank's 50%. The podcast's host said on Oct 1 that Druid levels 1 to 10 felt rough before the Wrath change and much better after, and Sodapoppin agreed. NoobToBoss's list of Oct 19, 2026 places Druid in its second tier for leveling but says it has "low confidence"; see Best Leveling Class.
What creators said
Kargoz's PvP guide of Oct 13, 2026 ranks Restoration above Feral above Balance, and predicts Restoration Druid as "the premier objective-oriented specialization" and flag carriers in Warsong Gulch. It names Gift of the Earthmother as one of the most exciting PvP talents and doubts Balance can outperform Restoration (Kargoz on Mobalytics). Icy Veins calls Druid "the easiest recommendation for someone who is not set on what specialization they want to play" (Icy Veins, Oct 15, 2026). NoobToBoss, on a level 30 cap, places Feral Bear Druid third of three tanks, Restoration in its second healer tier, Feral in its third damage tier and Balance in its lowest, and says that last placing mostly reflects abilities missing at level 30.
Sodapoppin, a Druid player, called Druid "arguably the worst PvP class in classic" on Sep 24, and defended classic PvP as balanced "in a lot of matchups", worrying that Forever's added utilities would upset it.
What is not known yet
- Where Blizzard will take the promised notch from the Druid, if it does, as of Oct 31, 2026.
- Which talents fill the 31-point slot in Balance and the 21-point slots in Balance and Restoration. Blizzard's articles do not number them.
- The launch build's numbers: no launch patch notes as of Oct 31, 2026.
- Tier sets, which Blizzard said in October it would review.
