Price and Subscription

World of Warcraft: Forever costs $14.99 a month in the US (or €12.99 in Europe) and has no purchase price of its own: access "is included with your active World of Warcraft subscription or game time", the Battle.net Shop says, and no upgrade is needed to play it (Battle.net Shop). The optional upgrades add the Skyborne race and extras for $29.99, $59.99 or $79.99. Every price on this page is what Blizzard's shop displayed on Oct 31, 2026, in the currency named; the shop adds that "prices may vary", so a checkout elsewhere may show another figure. The same subscription also covers modern WoW and WoW Classic.

Quick facts

Subscription prices

The monthly rates and the two 12-month totals are the shop's own; the figures marked "sum" are the monthly rate times the months, worked out here. The shop's "Save $24.00 per year" on the 6 and 12 month plans and "Save $12.00 per year" on 3 months compare with paying monthly, and the 12-month plan "billed every 12 months" can be canceled online at any time, Blizzard says (Battle.net Shop). A subscription renews automatically. The 6 and 12 month plans also carry in-game special offer bonuses that change over time and only the shop's own subscription purchase earns them; Blizzard warns that they can be limited across WoW's versions, so check the current list on the shop before paying for them.

Game Time

Game Time is the prepaid route: no renewal, and it counts the same for Forever. The shop sells 60 days of Game Time for $29.99 in the US and €25.98 in Europe, which comes to about the same as two months of the 1-month subscription, and more than a longer plan.

Upgrade prices

Everything each one contains is on Upgrades and Editions. The shop's European prices come from its en-gb page. The physical Collector's Edition is sold separately through the Blizzard Gear Store, and its price is not listed on the Battle.net Shop's page.

What each route costs

Three routes for the first 30 days, on the shop's US prices (the totals are this page's arithmetic):

The Epic Pack's Game Time "will be added to your WoW account with the launch" and the shop says play after those 30 days "requires a Subscription or additional Game Time (sold separately)". A player who keeps subscribing past launch month still pays the monthly rate from then on, whichever route they took.

"Free" here means no upgrade, not no cost. The Heroic Pack alone gives no access to the game: it has no Game Time in it.

Playing for free

The only free play Blizzard's Forever page describes is a friend's Invite-A-Friend code: it grants "an eligible invitee access to WoW: Forever from November 4-11". Blizzard says other restrictions apply. Codes come only as a bonus with the upgrades, one or three per pack, and gift purchases do not earn them. After Nov 11 the invited player needs a subscription or Game Time like anyone else. Blizzard's Forever pages mention no other free trial as of Oct 31, 2026.

What the subscription includes

The same subscription or Game Time gives levels 1 to 80 in modern World of Warcraft, 1 to 60 in WoW Classic and 1 to 90 in Mists of Pandaria Classic, the shop says. Forever comes on top, starting Nov 4. It does not include modern WoW's latest expansion: "Midnight expansion sold separately". A Forever player has no need of it, except for one item in the packs: their housing decor can only be used in modern WoW's Housing, which "requires World of Warcraft: Midnight (sold separately)".

What is not known yet

As of Oct 31, 2026:

• Whether a WoW Token or any way to pay for time with in-game gold exists in Forever; none of Blizzard's Forever pages read for this guide mention one.
• Any in-game shop for Forever. MadSeasonShow noted at the reveal that no other form of monetization had been announced, and none has been since (see Upgrades and Editions).
• Prices in other currencies. This page read only the shop's US and European pages.
