Best Race for Each Class

Which race fits each class in World of Warcraft: Forever after Blizzard's final racial pass of Oct 26, 2026: each class's races, what the racials favor, the attributed picks of Icy Veins and Mobalytics, and how Blizzard meant the differences to work.

The best race for a class in World of Warcraft: Forever has no official answer: Blizzard first aimed for equal offensive power with signature utility, then, in its launch pass of Oct 26, 2026, said "some races will naturally be slightly more effective than others at certain combat roles". What follows is what each class can pick, what Blizzard's racials favor, and the named opinions. No one has played level 60 as of Oct 31, 2026; Crix at Mobalytics says so, and rankings will move.

Quick facts

Blizzard's stance Racial identity first; no required weapon type
Critical strike and burst Human 1%, Orc Blood Fury, Night Elf Elune's Light, Troll Berserking, Gnome Eureka!
Hit Dwarf 1%
Haste Skyborne 2%
Pets Orc 5% (Hunter, Warlock)
Crowd control breaks Human stuns; Undead charm, fear, sleep; Gnome roots and snares
Latest pass Oct 26 and 27, 2026
Mobalytics PvE top Human, Orc, Skyborne
Mobalytics PvP top Human, Undead

Class by class

The race lists are Blizzard's (Blizzard). Racial facts are from its notes (Blizzard) (Blizzard). The last column is Icy Veins, written on Sep 17, 2026, before every racial change on this page, with its warning that the picks "will likely change".

What Blizzard's numbers say

The launch pass cut the most generic bonuses. Tauren lost hit and critical damage; Dwarves swapped critical damage for 1% hit; Humans dropped to 1% critical strike chance; the Orc's 1% became a pet bonus. Blizzard's Priest deep dive gives Priests a specific reason to choose: Gnome's Confounding Flash and Contingency Plan, Human's Divine Grace, Dwarf's Chastise, Night Elf's Starshards with a 30-second cooldown, and Undead's Dark Sacrifice (Blizzard). See Human, Gnome, Dwarf, Night Elf, Undead and Troll.

Tier lists

Crix at Mobalytics, updated Oct 30, 2026, ranks races apart for PvE and PvP. PvE: Human, Orc and Skyborne at the top; Night Elf and Gnome next; Troll and Dwarf in the middle; Undead and Tauren last. PvP: Human and Undead at the top; Orc and Gnome next; Tauren, Troll and Dwarf in the middle; Night Elf and Skyborne last. The text cites both new and old numbers (Dwarf's new hit, but also a 3-minute Blood Fury and 2% Human critical strike), so read it with the launch numbers beside it.

PvP versus PvE

Sodapoppin, on Sep 24, 2026, said PvE passives are "going to get evened out" and that players should choose for PvP unless they will never fight. His Rogue advice was Undead or Orc for the Horde, Gnome or Human for the Alliance. His view predates the Oct 15 and Oct 26 changes. Cajato advises against picking a damage winner from tooltips alone.

What is not known yet
