Holy Priest in World of Warcraft: Forever has Binding Heal at 16 points and Prayer of Mending at 31, and Blizzard's role for it is plain: Holy is "a little better at needing to heal a whole party all at once", a designer said on Oct 1, 2026, while Discipline is better at keeping a tank alive. How it plays
Prayer of Mending sits on the target and heals when they next take damage or get a non-periodic heal, then jumps to another party or raid member within 20 yards, up to 5 heals. Each target may hold only one (Blizzard). With a 10-second cooldown and a 30-second duration, it is meant to be running through a fight.
Litany of Light rewards mixing heals. Countdown, reading the demo on Sep 13, gave it as 5% of base cost back and summed it up as "variety is the spice of life for you holy priests". Blizzard's article gives no percentage.
Baseline changes matter more to Holy than to other Priests. Prayer of Healing now heals the target's party and their pets rather than the Priest's own, and Renew can run from several Priests on one target (Blizzard); a fix on Oct 15 stopped high ranks blocking others (Blizzard).
A damage build is intended. "We want it to be a thing," a designer said of the Smite Priest, and said Holy with Judgment of the Crusader up "was out DPSing some of the other DPS specs", so it was cut. They pay "a big hybrid tax" because "they have full healing capability", and are "great for questing". Searing Light, Mental Agility in Discipline and Power in Light are the talents around it.
Asked whether Holy Fire's cast could fall to two seconds, a designer said "there's a chance" and warned "every buff has a cost". No note through Oct 15 has changed it. A fix that day corrected Holy Fire Rank 5's periodic damage being higher than Rank 6's (Blizzard).
Changes in the beta, by date
- Sep 24, 2026: Renew can land critical heals, and Power Word: Shield overwrites one on a target without Weakened Soul (Blizzard).
- Oct 8: Smite, Lesser Heal and Heal ranks smoothed (Blizzard).
- Oct 15: Renew and Holy Fire fixes above, and Mind Vision no longer interrupts a target's drink. No Holy talent changed (Blizzard).

- NoobToBoss places Holy in its second healer tier and calls it its pick for beginners, Oct 19, at a level 30 cap (NoobToBoss).
- Kargoz says "Holy Priest is being underestimated" in PvP because of Prayer of Mending, Oct 13 (Kargoz on Mobalytics).
Countdown, on Sep 13, called Holy "a Push": "it just feels same old same old" despite both new spells.
