Addons
Addons in World of Warcraft: Forever as of Oct 31, 2026: they work, with the same combat restrictions as Midnight; the built-in damage meter and Cooldown Manager; Questie and Auctionator both list Forever builds on their own project pages; how to install them.
Addons work in World of Warcraft: Forever, with the combat limits of modern WoW's Midnight, and as of Oct 31, 2026 both Questie and Auctionator list a Forever build on their own project pages. A Blizzard representative wrote in the WoW UI Discord that Forever "shares Mainline WoW's UI architecture, including the vast majority of APIs available in 12.1.5", as Icy Veins reported. On the first podcast, Blizzard's answer to players who disliked the new interface was that everyone can still customize their unit frames, minimap and spellbook, and Xaryu agreed: "the UI add-on solution works."

What Blizzard restricts
Forever brings over modern WoW's limits. Lead encounter designer Mike Nuthals told Kotaku on Sep 14, 2026 that "the in-game or in-combat add-on disarmament", where calculations "automate marking or communicating for players", is coming over, "so that players will not have access to those kind of computational add-ons". He and lead Classic designer Tim Jones did not confirm further specifics. Icy Veins, citing a Game Informer interview, says the team wants to keep addon customization without giving addons "too much power and control over a player's experience".
Blizzard has not published a Forever-only list of restricted functions as of Oct 31, 2026.
Blizzard's own tools
Damage meter. Icy Veins reports the Game Informer interview confirmed the built-in meter for Forever. Xaryu found "Damage meter builtin" in the advanced options when he played the BlizzCon demo.
Cooldown Manager. Blizzard's beta notes describe it as pulling critical information from the buff bar or action bar into a location you choose, and it is enabled in Options under Gameplay Enhancement. By Oct 8, 2026 all classes, racial abilities and trinkets were supported, with consumables promised "in a later patch"; on Oct 15 spell ranks came to count as one entry. Pet cooldowns, Healthstones and item enhancements such as poisons were on the beta's known issues on Sep 24. See Known Issues.
Other built-ins. The beta's Oct 8 notes added Discord Voice under Audio settings for the whole party, and the Enhanced preset turns on quest points of interest and objective areas.
Questie and Auctionator
Questie's CurseForge page, read on Oct 31, 2026, lists Forever among its flavors, with a Forever file of v12.3.1+v1.0.9 dated Oct 26, 2026, for game version 1.60.1. Its GitHub issue tracker shows work still open on Forever's own quest features, such as sequenced and optional objectives and the Darkmoon Faire, so expect gaps at launch.
Auctionator's CurseForge page, read the same day, lists Forever among its flavors, with a Forever file of version 341 dated Oct 13, 2026. Whether either works perfectly on launch day can only be shown then; a listed file says the authors built for Forever, nothing more. Auction house changes are on Gold Guide.
Installing
Mein-MMO's guide of Oct 26, 2026 describes two ways. In the CurseForge app, choose World of Warcraft, pick Forever from the version menu and install from there. By hand, download the addon's Forever file and extract its folders into /_forever_/Interface/AddOns in your World of Warcraft folder. Turn addons on or off from the game menu or the character screen, then type /reload.
Addons and the community
Blizzard watches what players build. On the Oct 29 podcast a developer said the team looks closely at how people use addons to organize themselves, asking "what do we maybe want to pull in and try and integrate?" Two addons already made news in the beta, Olympus Guild and OlympusMute; see Asmongold's Olympus guilds.
What is not known yet
As of Oct 31, 2026: how well addons run on launch-day Forever, whether WeakAuras will have a Forever version, and any Blizzard list of Forever's restricted functions.
