Fire Mage

Fire Mage in World of Warcraft: Forever: Heating Up in row 4, Fire Power rebuilt to 12%, Critical Mass to 10%, Improved Fire Blast back from Wake of Fire, Ignite per caster, and values as of Blizzard's notes of Oct 15, 2026.

Fire Mage in World of Warcraft: Forever has Heating Up, not an instant Pyroblast: three stacks from critical strikes cut Pyroblast to a 1.5-second cast. Countdown found that on Sep 13, 2026, called it "a begrudging win for the fire mage", and said of losing the instant cast, "I get it". It was named Hot Streak then, and Blizzard renamed it on Oct 1. This page gives every Fire talent Blizzard names; the class as a whole is on Mage.

Quick facts

Heating Up Row 4, needs Pyroblast, 25% off Pyroblast's cast per stack, 3 stacks

Combustion 3 charges (Oct 1)
Ignite One debuff per Mage
Gold medal talents Not numbered by Blizzard for Fire
Removed talents None, Blizzard says
Last class notes Build of Oct 15, 2026

Talents Blizzard names

From Blizzard's deep dive of Oct 7, 2026 and the notes of Oct 15.

Talent Where Value or change
Improved Fire Blast Row 1 Named Wake of Fire until Oct 15. Adds 8 or 15 yards of range, no bonus for a kill
Incineration Row 1, was Incinerate Critical strike chance on Ice Lance and Arcane Blast too, as well as Fire Blast and Scorch
Improved Fireball Not stated Also speeds Frostfire Bolt
Ignite Not stated A separate debuff per Mage; close critical strikes lose no damage
Impact Not stated Lower chance from low-rank spells; cannot proc from Flamestrike's periodic damage (Oct 8)
Burning Soul 3 points Same effect
Improved Scorch Not stated Its debuff helps only the casting Mage
Heating Up Row 4, needs Pyroblast See below
Blast Wave Not stated No longer needs Pyroblast
Critical Mass Up to 5 points 10% critical strike chance
Fire Power 3 points 1/2/3% per your Fire effect on the target, up to 12%
Combustion Not stated 3 charges, back from 4

How it plays

Heating Up comes from non-periodic critical strikes with Fireball, Frostfire Bolt, Fire Blast and Scorch, its buff lasts 20 seconds since Sep 24, and it "is Forever's variation on the ideas found in the Hot Streak talent" (Blizzard). Since Oct 15, Fire Blast always adds a charge, so a Fire Blast critical strike adds two, and a Pyroblast cast with Presence of Mind does not spend it (Blizzard).

Fire Power makes Fire a stacking tree. Ignite, Improved Scorch, Fireball, Pyroblast and Impact are the effects that count. Frostfire Bolt does not grant the bonus but benefits from it, since "Spells that mix multiple schools of magic do not grant this bonus" (Blizzard).

The team buff is gone. Countdown read Improved Scorch on Sep 13 as "just for you", with a vulnerability of 3% stacking up to five times by his reading of the demo. Blizzard confirms it helps only the casting Mage, without giving those numbers.

Frostfire Bolt, learned at level 40, ties Fire to Frost. Blizzard's example hybrid takes Ignite and Ice Shards for 280% damage on a critical strike (Blizzard). See Frost Mage.

Changes in the beta, by date

  • Sep 24, 2026: Wake of Fire's buff to 30 seconds, Hot Streak's to 20 seconds, Ignite stops double dipping on damage increases (Blizzard).
  • Oct 1: Hot Streak renamed Heating Up, Combustion back to 3 charges, Improved Scorch no longer rolls a second resist (Blizzard).
  • Oct 8: Fireball ranks 1 to 6 smoothed (Blizzard).
  • Oct 15: Improved Fire Blast restored, Critical Mass and Fire Power rebuilt, Heating Up changed (Blizzard).

Blizzard's role for it

Blizzard's line is "Fire to produce devastatingly heavy hits and critical damage" (Blizzard). It names no separate raid role for this specialization.

Thin creator views

Few and dated, with no consensus as of Oct 31, 2026.

  • RankedBoost grades Fire A for damage, graded Oct 3, before the Oct 15 rebuild (RankedBoost).
  • NoobToBoss places all Mage specs in its third damage tier, Oct 19, at a level 30 cap (NoobToBoss).
  • Kargoz puts Fire second of the three Mage specs for PvP, Oct 13 (Kargoz on Mobalytics).

What is not known yet

  • Fire's 11, 16, 21 and 31-point talents: Blizzard's articles do not number them for this tree.
  • How often Heating Up reaches three stacks at level 60, at raid critical strike rates.
  • Launch values: no launch patch notes as of Oct 31, 2026.

Frequently asked questions

Is Pyroblast instant for Fire Mages in WoW Forever? Not from Heating Up. Three stacks reduce its cast to 1.5 seconds.

Was Hot Streak removed? Renamed. It has been Heating Up since Oct 1, 2026.

Does Ignite share between Mages? No. Each Mage has a separate Ignite debuff.
