Shadow Priest

Shadow Priest in World of Warcraft: Forever: Vampiric Embrace at 16 points, Dark Inspiration, Devouring Contagion, Early Demise, the new Shadowform, personal Shadow Weaving, and each value as of Blizzard's notes of Oct 15, 2026.

Shadow Priest in World of Warcraft: Forever gets a Shadowform that cuts the mana cost of Shadow spells by 50% and raises their critical strike damage bonus by 100%, for less bonus Shadow damage than before. Countdown, reading the BlizzCon build on Sep 13, 2026, called it "shadow form on drugs" and said "Shadow Priest is back on the menu in PvE and PvP". Blizzard changed the tree again on Oct 15. This page lists each talent; shared Priest changes are on Priest.

How it plays

Mind Flay's reach is the small change players will feel first. Countdown read the demo's talent as bringing Mind Flay to 30 yards, ending the moment when "you can't quite hit" it after an opener. Blizzard confirms more range without a number.

Blizzard's designers say you bring Shadow for its damage. Asked whether Shadow is more than raid utility now that Shadow Weaving is personal, one said "you brought them for the damage", with utility on top such as party healing from vampiric abilities and Silence. They also said it is not meant to be Burning Crusade's "mana battery".

Devouring Plague is baseline at level 20 for every race, and Blizzard says Shadow deals "powerful damage-over-time (DoT)" while lacking "the full utility in that role that could be found on a class such as the Warlock" (Blizzard). Dark Inspiration, added two weeks later, gives a party Spirit in return for Mind Blast and full Mind Flay channels.

Shadowform "allows all non-healing spells", so a Priest leaves it to heal. Countdown read 10% Shadow damage and 15% less physical damage from the demo; Blizzard's article says only that the Shadow bonus decreased.

Changes in the beta, by date

  • Oct 1, 2026: Devouring Plague can critically strike, Shadow Weaving cannot fail to apply, Early Demise bug fixed (Blizzard).
  • Oct 15: Devouring Plague to 24 seconds from 1 minute, Shadow Word: Death to 18 from 12, Vampiric Embrace to 30 seconds and unresistable, Dark Inspiration added, Improved Mind Flay rebuilt, Devouring Contagion to 2 targets, Shadow Word: Death now benefits from Shadowform's critical strike damage (Blizzard).

The racial pass of Oct 26, 2026 lists no Priest spell changes (Blizzard).

Blizzard's role for it

Blizzard calls Priests "the most versatile healer" first; Shadow is the damage option, with party utility second. See Best DPS.

Thin creator views

Few and dated, with no consensus as of Oct 31, 2026.

  • RankedBoost grades Shadow A for damage, up from B, graded Oct 3 (RankedBoost).
  • NoobToBoss places it in its third damage tier, and lists Priest in tier C for leveling with Shadow as the pick, Oct 19, at a level 30 cap (NoobToBoss).
  • Kargoz ranks Shadow last of the three Priest specs for PvP, Oct 13, before Dark Inspiration (Kargoz on Mobalytics).

Sodapoppin, on Sep 24, said "Shadow Priest is going to be disgusting" in PvP. That is one streamer's reading of the tree.

What is not known yet

  • Shadow's 11, 21 and 31-point talents: Blizzard's article labels only Vampiric Embrace. It lists Shadowform last, but gives it no tier.
  • Tier sets. Blizzard said on Oct 1 they "were designed like eight months ago" and would be reviewed as the beta ended.
  • Launch values: no launch patch notes as of Oct 31, 2026.

Frequently asked questions

Can you heal in Shadowform in WoW Forever? Blizzard's text allows "all non-healing spells" in the form, so healing needs you to leave it.

Is Shadow Weaving a raid buff in WoW Forever? No. It helps only the casting Priest.

Does Vampiric Touch exist in WoW Forever? Blizzard's article does not list it, and the podcast host named it among what Shadow lost.

Does Vampiric Embrace have a cooldown? 30 seconds since Oct 15, 2026, with a 30-second duration.
