Quests
Quests in World of Warcraft: Forever: the original quests plus over 1,000 new ones across levels 1 to 60, where they are, how Blizzard writes them, class quests, reworked rewards, new reputations, beta changes and more to come.
Quests in World of Warcraft: Forever are the original game's quests plus more than 1,000 new ones spread across levels 1 to 60. Blizzard's Classic team says the game "contains all of the original quest content from the original game and builds on top of it", adding stories about events, characters and places that exist, or could have existed, in World of Warcraft's first year. The new quests sit in the three new zones, in every starting zone and in existing zones such as the Wetlands, Desolace and Azshara. Many old quests have reworked rewards, new reputations come with the new content, and Blizzard plans to keep adding quests across the whole 1 to 60 journey after the game launches on Nov 4, 2026.

Where the new quests are
The biggest figure Blizzard has given for a single zone belongs to The Riverglades, the new mid-level frontier in the Eastern Kingdoms. The What's Next panel at BlizzCon on Sep 12, 2026 said the zone "introduces more than 150 new quests", with content for both Horde and Alliance players, new reputations and new rewards; the Found Photographs panel put the zone's total at "nearly 200".
Every starting zone has new quests too. The Classic team's lead content designer told the Found Photographs panel that Blizzard has added "dozens of new quests, characters, and stories" to each of the starting zones, "along with additional content in every zone", and that new stories and adventures bring new rewards.
Among existing zones, the Wetlands have over 25 new quests and new leveling paths, Desolace has new centaur faction quests, and following that questline south through the Valley of Bones leads to Shen'dralas, a new area with dozens of new quests about the history of Eldre'Thalas. Josh Greenfield added later in the panel that Azshara, too, has "a lot of new quests". These zones are described on Updated Zones and Shen'dralas.
At the top of the leveling journey, Mount Hyjal, Blizzard's new endgame leveling zone, brings "new stories, rewards, new reputations" and both solo and group content, as players help a land recovering from Archimonde's defeat.
At the start of it, Zephras Isle is the new starting experience of the Skyborne race, for levels 1 to 12. It was the part of the leveling game Blizzard put on the BlizzCon show floor: opening the Deep Dive panel, the team hoped visitors had tried the demo and experienced "the start of the levelling journey of the game's new race".
How Blizzard writes quests for Forever
Blizzard calls its approach "found photographs", a term Chris Metzen coined in the team's earliest conversations about adding new stories to the Season of Discovery game mode of WoW Classic. The idea is that most new stories "could have happened feasibly during the vanilla era". Josh Greenfield, who helps lead Forever's content and narrative direction, said the team also wants to keep the original game's focus on "local stories", such as unravelling the mysteries of the Defias Brotherhood or helping Tirion Fordring rediscover his lost purpose, because that ground-level view "is what makes the world of Azeroth feel large and textured". There will be big epic narratives, but told at ground level; large campaigns about major Warcraft characters "aren't really our focus".
The approach also brings in characters who were offscreen in the original game. Muln Earthfury, leader of the Earthen Ring, was "largely absent from original WoW"; in Forever he "will be present" and has a role to play in new stories. Underused characters get what Josh Greenfield calls a "glow up".
The quests serve one of Forever's design pillars, the world as the main character. On the What's Next panel Blizzard said that leveling "is just as important as endgame", promised new zones, quests, rewards and adventures "across all levels of play", and added that "not every story needs to be about saving the world": the most memorable ones may happen "in a remote village, along a forgotten road, or a corner of the map that you never expected to revisit".
Much of the method comes from Season of Discovery. Josh Greenfield said the team studied the original game and played through its classic quest chains to learn to tell stories in that style, and that many of Forever's quest lines were started in Season of Discovery and carried forward.
The team also wants quests to create mysteries again. Josh Greenfield recalled watching, around 2006, a grainy video of the first player to go through Scarlet Monastery with a corrupted Ashbringer on his back, and wondering for years where that story would go. By 2026, he said, many of those questions have been answered, so Forever's new stories are meant to raise new ones: how did the Brotherhood of the Horse end up in the Riverglades, and what will it mean that an ogre clan once part of the Twilight's Hammer is now on its own?
Leveling routes
The order to play zones in is on the Alliance Leveling Route and the Horde Leveling Route, and level ranges are on Zones by Level.
New quests are also meant to change how players level. The lead content designer said the Riverglades gives players "a new level band so you don't have to stay in the areas that you're already familiar with": its stories and levels blend with those of neighboring zones, so a player leveling in Stranglethorn Vale who wants a break can go to "an entirely new zone with hundreds of new quests for both factions". Leveling, he said, "has been somewhat of a solved thing for some time", and the new questing in the Wetlands and in northern Kalimdor is meant to give players different ways to play. Forever's Legacy system also rewards players for leveling more characters, with account-wide points from Legacy Challenges.
Class quests
Some new quests belong to one class. Forsaken Paladins, a new race and class combination in Forever, are sent to Bandarion Keep in Tirisfal Glades around level 10 and receive most of their class quests there. At level 60 they also get their own epic mount quest: where Alliance Paladins claim their epic charger "in the name of redemption", Forsaken Paladins ride "in the name of retribution". The class is covered on Paladin.
Quest rewards
Blizzard has reworked quest rewards so that more classes and roles get something useful. On the Deep Dive panel on Sep 13, 2026, Chris, introduced as a 21-year veteran of World of Warcraft, said "new quest rewards have been added across the board" and gave a famous Alliance example. The Duskwood quest to kill the undead soldier Mor'ladim ends with a two-handed sword, which suits a warrior or a paladin but nobody else, so Mor'ladim now also hands back his family ring, "a fantastic spell power ring". Blizzard's recap names it the Ladimore Heirloom Ring.
The second example is Hemet Nesingwary in Stranglethorn Vale. Finishing all of his quests used to earn a hunter's ranged weapon; he now also offers a wand and the Master Hunter's Spellsword, designed for Retribution Paladins with strength and spell damage together. Chris said the game now has more gear of this kind for hybrid specializations than it ever had before. The wider changes to gear are on Items and Stats.
What changed in the beta
Blizzard's beta notes show quests moving until the end of the test (Blizzard):
- Experience. Dungeon quests reward 50% less extra experience beyond normal quest values since Oct 1, 2026, because of feedback on leveling speed. The first time a quest is done stays "the most lucrative"; see Leveling Guide.
- Levels. The new Gelkis and Magram quests beginning with "Valley of Bones" need level 35 (was 30), and the quests around Shadowvale and Bandarion Keep were raised, since they "could result in the quests being green by the time you got to them" (Oct 8).
- Rewards. Various dungeon quest rewards fell from rare to uncommon on Oct 8, with stats to match, and "a number of quests" had rewards corrected to the right item level.
- Interface. Quest types now show as text in the log, tracker and dialogue, and level requirements show in the tracker.
- Sharing. Dungeon quests that handed a quest item to whoever received them can no longer be shared, while "The Attack!" stopped being an escort quest and became shareable.
- Respawns. Blizzard sped up many quest targets, such as Hillsbrad Foothills, Ashenvale, the Wetlands, Duskwood and Thousand Needles on Oct 1, and asked players to report more.
Reputations
New reputations come with the new content; see Reputation. The What's Next panel listed them for both the Riverglades and Mount Hyjal, the Found Photographs panel promised new factions to build relationships with on Mount Hyjal, and "new reputations" were on the list of things the What's Next panel had no time to cover, beside new professions content and itemization updates "blowing up much of the old meta". Game Informer reported that the new reputations let players farm new items and account-wide perks.
After launch
Quests will keep coming. Blizzard's roadmap, shown on the What's Next panel, follows the new raids of Dec 9, 2026 with more raids, dungeons, PvP updates and world content, and "new quests throughout the levelling 1 through 60 journey" as the team adds to what it calls a "horizontally expanding evergreen" Azeroth. Josh Greenfield also hinted that Azshara has "a crater-sized hole" in its content that the team might fill one day. The dates are on Release and Roadmap.
What is not known yet
Not known as of Oct 31, 2026: the number of new quests per zone beyond the Riverglades, the Wetlands and the panel's "dozens" for starting zones and Shen'dralas; the quests above level 30, which the public beta did not reach.
